Dreams of having intercourse with an unknown person or of having one’s genitals tampered with are also interpreted as attacks from the witches. That is, a man may dream that someone comes to him and tampers with his penis or testicles. When he awakens the following day, he will be impotent or suffer from erectile dysfunction. Likewise, a woman may dream of someone having intercourse with her. The visitor may be a man or even a woman with a penis. When the woman awakens, she may be barren, her menstruation might flow incessantly or not at all.
The nocturnal nature of witches also reinforces the idea of secrecy, which is inseparable from their society. If the witch's activities are brought into the light of day (i.e., by confession), they lose their potency. “Àjẹ́ are just like thieves, because no one who is a thief would tell others that he was. So also àjẹ́ will not reveal their identity.”
